Taiwan

Taiwan is a great opportunity in front of the mainland Chinese island. The capital city is Taipei. Originally, Taiwan once belonged to Japan, after the occupation in the 2nd World War by China was not officially returned to the island again. To date, the island state is officially sanctioned administratively part of Japan and China. The legal status is still not fully understood.

Taiwan has exactly two climatic zones, the climatic boundary between the subtropical and tropical runs right through the highest mountain in the Yu Shan, or better known as Jade Mountain. In the north of the island there is therefore sub-tropical climate and tropical in the south. The temperatures are 12 to 25 degrees Celsius. The climate is still characterized by a strong monsoon and frequent typhoons. Thus Taiwan was an island of forest, but in recent decades, a large part of the forest has been cleared, especially in and after the Second World War, much nature of the industry has fallen victim. Today, the island nation, thanks to large-scale afforestation programs is again covered with forest to 55 percent. The fauna has suffered greatly in recent decades. Through the industry of the habitat of numerous animal species have been severely affected. Species such as the Taiwan black bear, Chinese muntjac or sika deer are severely threatened with extinction and are on the red list of conservation organizations.

Society in Taiwan

Taiwan has about 23 million inhabitants, the population density, making it the second highest in the world after Bangladesh. Just as the cities of Taichung and Tainan are heavily overpopulated and literally bursting at the seams. Comply with the mountains are uninhabited except for a few isolated settlements.

The majority of the population are of Chinese descent. From there, there was in the course of history repeatedly veritable waves of immigration. Therefore, the official language is Chinese, but in addition, many people still speak Taiwanese, since the mid 90's, there are the aspirations, traditions and language received by the Aborigines.
